Approach a face painter using craft glitter?
« on: April 16, 2011, 06:28:14 AM »

One of my face painting friends pulled out her kit the other day and she had these big glitter containers.  I looked at them and something about them made me think they may not be cosmetic.  When she used one on a design, I had the same impression.  I think the way it fell on the skin and the way it looked, made me think it was craft glitter.

Even though I thought it might be craft glitter and was worried about that, I had no way to bring the subject up with her.  I didn't want to offend her in any way if it was.  Anyone have a good, kind way to broach the subject?  Has anyone else had this situation come up?  Tongue

This is a sticky one.  I think I would have said something like... "That's really interesting glitter... where did you get it?"  or... "That's cool!  I can't get glitter in that large a quantity... where did you find it?"  That might at least break the ice so you could expand from that point possibly.    Hope that helps a bit.  Smiley

Thanks Sealmom.  Things like that worry me, but I could be wrong and so I usually don't say a word.  Not sure what to say or how to say it.

I'd also ask where they got it from, "hmm... never seen that brand before?" If it's not cosmetic grade you can let them know how dangerous it is(eye damage, cut scalp, etc). Really, the craft glitter is more damaging than acrylic paints. Coax them into using the good stuff.
