I am tryingto source the glue with a nice small tip that will make doing freehand glitter tattoos easier. I normally use stencils and the glue that i am currently using has the brush applicator.

You can find bottles with small tips at craft stores.  I'm not sure if I bought these at AC Moore or Michaels.  If you're looking for a thinner, runnier body glue, I've found that Amerikan Body Art is thinner.  I'm not sure if that would be good or bad for the bottle though, it may drip out too much?  Or it could flow more freely without getting clogged up.

Thanks Sherry.  I was thinking about that since i saw silly farm has some empty bottles in the henna section where you can choose from the .5mm silver tip or the .7mm tip.  I was wondering if they can work.  i ordered some just to test so i will let you guys know how it worked out.

How did it go, Maria?
I imagine that the freehand tattoos would all be thickly raised, like tunnels of glue
unless you either

used a paintbrush somehow (but wouldn't that quickly gunk up?)

or pressed into the skin
as you squoze the bottle?
(but wouldn't that make an irregular thick/thin surface texture?)

I havent tried the freehand as yet( although I do have the bottle)...I am still figuring out how to actually do it.  One question that comes to mind is 'how do i reduce the appearance of all that extra glitter around the finished tat?'

Do you clean the skin well with alcohol before applying the tattoo?  Sometimes mine sticks too when the weather is extra hot and sticky or they have clammy skin.  If I brush it off and glitter still sticks all around, try wiping with a baby wipe.

And I think some people clean (and dry) the area first
with alcohol

I use any fine-tip bottle - those Liquid Bling/ Glitzer ones with the added fine metal tip mainly. Means no brushes getting ruined or drying into gloppy mush  of bristles 1/2 way through a gig. Yet to try a Mark Reid bottle, his are all plastic in 1 I think?

Sacrifice is thicker, runnier design though. And beware the tops loosen over time (as in ver several gigis, with all the re-filling) and can sort of come loose and explode when squeezed! st time it did that to me was at a demo, of course, doh!:)

You might also want to be super-careful about opening them on an airplane.  Pressure-controlled cabin.  I've had things get liquidier.  Things that should have been thick, just pouring right out.

I once, sitting tight in Coach, like what else,
opened a squeeze bottle of liquid glitter.  Instead of getting on my practice hand, it splattered onto the pants of the stranger next to me.  Oh, oh no.  Luckily she said she was fine with it.  But I was uncomfortable and self-conscious and apologetic all through the flight.

I guess I would know better now.  Better personality, I know how to say 'Thank You' when I'm given slack for my faux-pas s.  Still, I wouldn't try that on a plane again.

How to pass the time.....

They let you take non-essential cosmetic liquids into the plane carry-on? wow. Still super-strict everywhere I fly so hasn't been an issue.

All my liquid, powder and cream paints always have to go in the hold so its not been a problem but I do always double-wrap them in case anything expands with pressure - I had suntan cream burst once, not a great start to your holiday wardrobe:)

I just started doing freehand glitter tattoos w/ the glue in a henna bottle. I love it & can't wait to give it a try in the real world(so far I've just done my own arm).

Yep the henna bottles are very like what I now use/ sell - except I finally found the ones with the screw-on lids and metal lock tips so they don't suddenly pop open or fall off like the liquid bling etc bottles can do.
Small video is on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js-zNDATOl0

I find it SO much easier/ cleaner/ neater.... I've also found a cheaper glue I like better than the Graftobian etc I used to use. Stil very very liquid but yay:)

I've been dabbling in some more freehand lately too.  Love the one with the metallic powders.
