Major disappointment! Today I SHOULD have been learning from the Wolfe Bros, but not enough artists (only 10 were needed) signed up. Dang! I should be wearing black. I am in deep mourning!!!!!

Oh Dear Wina ~ You did miss an excellent event. I took an event with the Wolfe Bros a few years ago, and I was so impressed. It would have been an uplift for you even though you're work is already excellent.
You probably know about this stuff already, but I remember one of my favorite parts of my Wolfe-Brothers experience was that they taught us to look for places on the face as landmarks. So instead of trying to match up a stroke on the left with a stroke on the right, I now just decide based on things like - how far away from the corner cheekbone

Oh, good tip Alison! I'll have to try that one out. I took a Wolfe Bros. class, but they didn't get into that. It was a dragon class.

Hopefully, my friend will try to run this event in November, when the summer gigs have come and gone.

Oh I'm sure the Wolfe Bros would be great at dragons! I was once at a Convention with Mama Clown in NJ. I wish I could remember who did a fantastic dragon in the front of the room. Used limited spots of netting at the end which made all the difference. Do you know what I mean about netting?

Putting a net or mesh on it and painting over?

Yes. It's something that I've been doing for Snakes every since I started face-painting.
I take the red plastic mesh that I get from buying a big box of clementines at the Super Market. Then, after I paint the curvng snake-stripe, I place the mesh over the snake-shape. Paint again in a darker color, and Voila! Texture!
The woman who painted the fantastic dragon-face used the same mesh-technique to put a few hints of texture onto the face.

Yeah ~ I thought of that Maria. I think I MIGHT have a picture of 2 brothers with matching Snakes somewhere amongst the TENS OF THOUSANDS (LITERALLY) of photos that I have here. And the boys I'm thinking of - I painted them SEVERAL YEARS AGO. Soooooo the best I can do here in the middle of the night after my super busy days is to post a scan of my mesh. I hope that helps alison

Okay, so you paint on the base color, put the mesh on top of it the same you would do a stencil and just dab over it. I will definately gave it a try.
Another use for the mesh that I saw n another site was the lady put the mesh over a cup, secured it with a rubber band and just put her brushes in it (each brush in a different hole) made a really cool brush cup.

I used to use beads in the bottom of a cup to keep my brushes upright, but they'd start to flop over a lot, especially when I had too many in there. Now I use the "Icetube Tray", which is great, but bulky. I think half the size would be better. The mesh over a cup, I might like to try out... clever idea.
