By the end of the party...
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:50:48 PM »

We always post the photos of our clients right after we painted them.
Well, today I worked a 2 hour party. The kids looked great after the brush left their faces.
BUT it rained A LOT and the kids played inside the saturated jumping pit.
So here is what kids looked like before I left. I even used a "barrier spray,"
but buckets of water are too much competition!

Can you tell which kids were out in the rain? It breaks my heart to see all my hard work
just melt away. I didn't get to take all their photos, so the melted Marios, Luigis, Spidermen and
Gene Simmons are probably in the tub right now, washing off the rest of the makeup!

They all still look pretty good, except Batman, looks like he got doused.  I had a party last year, where they had set up a waterslide.  Face painting and waterslide?  Bad idea!  I'd paint a face and then it'd promptly get washed away.  I was amazed that the customer seemed so pleased with having me out there!  Lucky too, I guess!   Cheesy

I just did a birthday party today... and I wish I  had my camera.  I don't know what the mom was thinking.... but she did the same thing.   Face painting and a blow-up water activity center.  What was she thinking?!?!?!  Anyway... I painted like crazy... but before I could everyone finished they were coming back in with nothing left of my work.  Oh well... the mom paid me and even gave me a huge tip.  The kids were thrilled and a lot of the adults even got into the act.  Great fun... but a bit frustrating with all the water.  ARG!

Not that I try to stop people from hiring but...

I have a gig in August at a company picnic POOL PARTY!
I asked if they really wanted me. They said not everyone wants
to swim. So hopefully I won't be sitting around doing nothing.

Hey if people want to pay me to make their pool multi-colored,
show me the money! Grin

I hope you'll tell us how it goes.  I've worked pool-parties.  People usually come After they've been swimming (although there is always the kid who is whining while his/her parent tells her to wait til after. )

I I just push the painting on to the people who are not swimming.  There's usually a lot of adults just 'watching the party' when it's a kid's, and I focus on them.  And especially at a Company Outing, there's usually people who are trying to be part of the party while not 'hanging loose' - aka baring down to bathing suit and dealing with the water.  And there's even people who are scared of the water and glad for a reason not to be able to go in.  We're actually doing them quite a favour.  I think you'll be fine.  Needed.

Don't anticipate why we're Not needed.  Fun is always extra.  The eyelashes of life, I like to call it.
We bring a Wow activity.  Needed or not, we can make the place better.
