How do you advertise your business?
« on: June 05, 2011, 09:49:35 PM »

I was wondering what you do to start your business? How do you find your clients? Do you offer your service to different organizations? I am very new in this and I really need your help Smiley
Thanks,

Do you live near any large cities?  When I first started, I lived near very tiny towns, so that was a bit tricky to get my business off the ground.  I volunteered at a Fourth of July event and got my feet wet.  Always have your business cards out and easily available at every event you do.  Network with other artists in your area... I've received bookings from meeting local clowns in my area.  I couldn't put out my own business cards, when I did events for him, but work is work and it's always good to be working.  The jobs seem to lead to more.

Do you have a website?  I would work on having a website up.  There are many free places online to place a listing.  Party Pop is one example.  Some also let you have a link back to your website.  Websites take time to build up traffic, so it's good to get it up and running.

When starting out and you don't have any jobs coming in, you can start looking for fairs and festivals in your area to possibly sign up for.  They are risky, but it's good exposure, practice and hopefully profit.

Some ideas.  Smiley

I painted for free at my local charity events and gave out my business cards, offered face painting at friend's birthday party as a present. I get work this way and now it's the referral that provide me bookings Smiley

Funny, I'm originally from Columbus, Oh.  I moved to Florida 11 years ago.  I met some other Ohio face painters at the Las Vegas convention last year.  One ladies' I think was called the Fun Factory out of Grove City.
