watches
« on: July 12, 2011, 01:32:18 AM »

I like a Functional watch.  One that I'll have a chance of reading
even at a gig.

Went to a craft store today, and was pleasantly surprised by a
make-your-own-watches section.  I hadn't known that you can
buy the watch-face (with non-come-apartable) edge-loops.
They had a great selection of all kinds of styles - and most of
them were even better than the watch section in a store.

I bought some watch-faces.  I bought some beautiful beads.
And I'm going to make some feminine-looking bracelets that
just happen to tell the time.

Well, it's in the studio.  Alongside things like the drawing boards
I want to make and the glitter tattoos I want to practice.

Hmmm... I didn't know there was such a thing as a make-your-own-watch.  Sounds nice.  I have a functional watch too and I have to keep it on most of the time.  I only take it off to bathe.  I feel like there's something missing if I don't have my watch on!

It's an indigo, water resistant watch.  My favorite kind.  They say you can tell a persons age by whether they wear a watch or not.  The younger generation is more likely to use their cell phone to get the time.   Wink

Oh, that's sooo interesting.  Yes - the younger guys I know do think that a watch is
extra.  But I couldn't imagine getting in and out of places on time without my watch.

But I do find myself using my cellphone more and more.  Like to check the time when I'm not sure what my watch says at a dark gig.  And to put on the timer or an alarm to beep me when the gig is up.  Maybe I'll get out of the dark ages yet?  It's even getting more important to me to wear something lovely than to just be functional.  Wouldn't that be nice?
