I received my first call for a belly painting. I'd like to quote her on the time... how long does it normally take to do one?
Any tips or suggestions for a first timer? Your help is much appreciated!

I have never done one either. One of my neighbors is getting large. I am hoping to sway her into a painting! Good luck.
Do you know WHAT she wants painted?

No info on what she wants painted yet. Looks like I'll have to start asking questions and find some big bellies to paint. Ha. So weird, I never really thought I'd want to do a belly painting and here I have a belly painting job... unsolicited. I imagine it would be time consuming, but I really didn't have a quote for her. I'm thinking I should ask the name and sex of the baby.

2-3 hours for a detailed belly. If you ave a kabuki brush and do a solid color base with a fairly simple design, it can be done in 20-30 minutes.

Kudos to you! Beautiful stuff! I can't imagine painting my own belly. You are amazing.
Looks like this job will be a breeze for you! Your daughter is adorable. As long as she's not 16 and showing everyone her chest and belly! lol

Great job & vibrant colors! I usually quote my normal rates. I can paint a belly in about 1-1 1/2 hours now.

Thanks guys! It looks like I won't be doing this event after all. I had another event come up and offered the belly painting job to another artist with my company... Kristin. She's great and is all excited about doing the belly painting. She's been wanting to get into body painting.

Kristin had a party this past weekend and lo and behold, there was an expectant mom ready for a belly painting, so she got a little practice. It was a very simple request and she said she just had to wing it.

It's like face painting - you take as long as you have/ they want. I just posted some of my recent bmp art- http://facepaintchat.com/index.php/topic,1172.0.htmlI have done some in 30 mins and some in 3 hours. The 1st 3 here took an hour or less and the last 2 were up to 3 hours. Just like when bodypainting, make sure you use far bigger brushes than you would on a face! Then it goes faster and looks better, small brushes= design too small too show well on a bump. Cat x

Several of the bellies look glittery. Is there: glitter on the designs or is it the makeup or are you using the squeeze glitter product or ALL OF THE ABOVE!?
Thanks!

No its all glitter tattoo, freehand.
I have a water-based (but waterproof, I have no idea how) cosmetic glue I can get int he Uk from a film prosthetic company.
I paint that on and then add the glitters when it dries. Really fast and looks amazing - theres some videos of how it sparkles in real life on my youtube.
