Face painting cruise
« on: September 13, 2011, 03:24:15 PM »

My face painting cruise ended up being pretty fun, but there was a lot of time spent on preparing for each session and cleaning up afterward.  My mom took on the job of cleaning the sponges and brushes after each session.  All in all, I think I would do it again sometime in the future, just not any time soon.  The only thing I didn't like about it, was being away from my kids for so long.

At our stop in Jamaica, I came across a face painting booth, but the face painter wasn't at their post at the time.  I took a few pics.  I noticed the makeup that was out was DFX.

Did you work for tips? And was this with Sixth Star?

Yes, this was through Sixth Star.  You can put out a tip jar, but it can't be labeled in any way.  You're not allowed to solicit tips, verbally or through signs.  I'd put out a clear jar and I'd usually get some tips.  Sometimes I'd start it with a dollar in it and sometimes I wouldn't.

I had one guy who was my daily big tipper.  It was weird because he always seemed to end up at the end of my line when I was ready to shut down, but he'd somehow make the cut and then give me a big tip... that was nice.   Grin
