Recent Events

I thought I'd start a thread where we can post about and share our recent events.  Let us know what you're doing and how it's going!   Grin

Mine was a Chick Fil A kids night last night.  Sometimes they start out slow and I have to get a few faces going before people really start lining up.  Not at this one.  Interest was generated as soon as I sat down and I stayed busy the entire night.  Yay!  I was in a really good mood and enjoying myself until one boy that was hanging out and watching to my left somehow spit right in my face.  He's chewing away with his gum and talking a lot and when he sort of laughed it spewed right on me.   Huh?  O.k. that was gross!  The hazards of being a face painter and having hoards of kids crowded around.

I love how this Chick Fil A advertises their upcoming events for the month and they use my business name.  Woo Hoo!  I just noticed it last month while taking a bathroom break, they had their little sign up with my company name.   Smiley

Awesome! I noticed a Chick Fi A in the Chgoland area, but its waaaaay south of me.
I always think of you when I pass it! Time for me to go to some local businesses
and try to drum up a similar deal.

Do they pay you hourly or with food or tip jar? Enquiring minds want to know! Huh?

I charge a reduced hourly rate, plus you can put out a tip jar.  They also offer food, but I normally pass on that and take a diet soda to drink while I'm working.  When it's time to go, I'm usually ready to head out, so I don't wait on the food they offer.

I also have a few Chick-Fil-A's & love them! I work for a reduced rate if it's Monday-Thursday, but full price for a weekend job(if it's a regular client I'll give them a 10% discount for weekends). I don't use a tip jar at these events. I love my restaurant work since it gets me out in the public w/ pay & gives me opportunities to really show off my work, interact w/ potential future clients & get my business cards into the hands of people.

LOL! Sherry... I had a child sneeze in my mouth before(YUCK). Did the boy accidentally spit on you? I'd have been furious if it was intentional.

It was an accident.  He was talking and chewing something at the same time and I don't know if he choked or laughed, but it suddenly came out forcefully into my face.  Eeww.  I had to corral him the rest of the night, because he kept wanting to come back to that same spot right near my face and watch and talk at the same time.  He was an outgoing talkative kid, so I was paranoid it would happen again.  Lol.

I did a birthday party on Sunday, the second gig of the day from 4pm to 6pm, every thing was going great until this BOY..........about 12 years old.............he wanted to be a full skull.........OK! BUT he hada mouth full of chewing gum and was chomping on it like a cow would chew it's cud! Nothing against GUM, but try to paint around that and keep the lines straight. If I asked him once, I asked him 20 times......stop chewing the gum, it makes it hard for me to paint, he NEVER did! Finally I stopped and said OK NOW YOUR A MESSED UP SKULL FACE! COME BACK WHEN YOU THROW THE GUM AWAY OK"  he went and told the host, she came and whispered in my ear  "YOU LASTED LONGER WITH HIM THAN I WOULD HAVE, I CAN'T STAND HIM AND HE IS MY NEPHEW" I told her quitely.....I can tolerate anything but he was getting under my skin so bad and that I was sorry .............she replied 'YOU SHOULD HAVE DECKED HIM"  hahahahaha!

I hate gum chewing. I have a no food or drink rule in my chair. They have to hand it off to smoeone & I always ask them not to eat/chew while I'm face painting.
