I had a customer call for a 2 hour event. It was for a support group and they only wanted me to offer one design... butterflies. The first thing I thought was, "What about the boys?" Really I've only had 2 boys request a butterfly design in 4 years and I've done a lot of events. She didn't want anything like tigers, etc. I don't know if she thought it was offensive or what, but tigers!? So the first thing I thought of was... how 'bout a caterpillar or dragonfly? She said she would run it by the board.
After getting off the phone with her, I thought about puppies... they're harmless I think and more fun to paint than dragonflies for me.
I spoke with her again and they decided dragonfly was the only design they would accept, so I'll be painting only butterflies or dragonflies.
O.k., so this is one thing about my job I don't like so much... painting the exact same design over and over. I'm not sure that dragonfly will be a big draw for the boys, but we'll see.
