Call from Marketing Letter
« on: September 01, 2009, 03:53:31 PM »

It's funny, I just made a recent post about getting correct business addresses because of the marketing letters I sent near the beginning of the year that kept coming back.  I just received a call from a business that had kept my letter and card all this time and just now called to inquire about our services.  There is only one restaurant I face paint at fairly regularly and they're going to come out and see us paint this Friday to see if they'd like to hire us on for their family night.  Crossing my fingers!   Grin

You never know how long it can take for the work you're doing to start to pay off.  I guess you have to keep plugging away at it.

That is so fantastic.  I hope it works out really well.  My first marketing letter that I sent out ended up leading to my very first hi-volume job at a restaurant/conference center/event location at Easter and Mother's Day.  My letter hit her desk just at the right moment, purely by accident.  I sent the letter because this location had a "date night" where parents could bring their children and have dinner while the children were entertained in an area all their own.  I didn't get the date night job, but I got the big Easter and Mother's Day Brunch job.  I still have the job to this day (5 years later) and they have now had me add two more face painters because of the large volume.  I think I will go and do another letter right now "-)  Kidding, of course, but they do work.  I also got other jobs from that letter so it made the time that I spent and the money on postage, etc. very much worth it.

"Marketing Letter"?
Do you mean, "A Mailing"?
Like sending out unsolicited announcements?

Thanks Fancy!  Yes, that call has given me some hope on sending out more letters.

Alison, maybe I didn't use the right name for it?  I don't know, but I sent out letters to lots of businesses, letting them know what I provided and how it would help their business.

I have been thinking about doing a business mailing, so I love hearing your success stories! Why not paint a corner of the envelope to get their attention. So many letters never get opened if they think it's junk mail. Maybe a little art on our part could get them to notice our letters amongst the many others they receive!?

It would definitely get noticed.  One of the artists that works with me does this sometimes when she sends letters.  I thought it was a pleasant addition.   Smiley
