Face-Paint Powders
« on: September 14, 2009, 10:34:32 PM »

I was just writing to our new member, Fab, about Powders.
I wrote:

Having started with wet-paints, it's always been easier
for me to just stick with what I know, carry only the supplies
that I've been using.....
But somewhere along my travels, I had been impressed with
the powders.  Bought white, rouge, yellow, and orange -
then never used them.  Yet.

Got me to wondering about other Artist's experiences with the Powders.
Anybody here use them?  Can you share your experience with them?
Or tell us why you don't use them?

I started with the powders.  The starblends and then playing with the shimmer powders.  I use the wet paints more and more, for some reason I'm liking them better.  I like the powders when it's really hot and humid, because I think they stand up better.  I like the wet paints better otherwise, I think they look better and you can do more with them.

I started with powders and absolutely love them.  Now I am trying hard to move to paint/sponge, but I really like putting the paint on with a brush and then using the sponge to even out and blend.  This is something I really need work on as I am very spoiled with the powders.  I use  Ben Nye alot and Starblend a little.

Powders are my favotite. I love the way they go on so smooth, and for the most part even, especially if you have to do a whole face a base color. I can blend and have smoother transitions from one color to the next with powders. I dislike wet because it takes me longer to make it smooth and streak free. Plus, after you get the base down you can switch to wet for detail and line work.
