Hello Out There
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:26:40 PM »

Here it is - midnight.  And I'm alone in my office playing with balloons.
Any of you 'with' me?

BTW, I finally got good at the 260-heart!  Yay

Hello Mr Moon.  Here it is - only 11 pm this time.  And I'm playing around with these supplies again.
I get glued to the studio.  Just me.  Tired.  But I don't leave.

The moon was bright last night.  I got in around 12:30 last night and was amazed at how bright and easy it was to see and get my key in the door.

Thank you Sherry - I can imagine the beautiful experience you describe.
There have a been a few times when I've been overcome by the magnificence of natural lighting too.

One was just a couple of weeks ago.  Driving thru Manhattan after a gig.  Could barely take the moment to look at it - but the sun was glowing
really glowing off a few streets.

And the other was, oh my, it was over 10-years ago.  When I was into Painting En-Plain-Aire.  Oil Paints.  I was in a little park just before a thunderstorm.  The sky became a luminous gray.  The trees were highlighted so brightly - high contrast to the part that wasn't highlighted.  The air was

still

Made me think of the old paintings - perhaps because I was painting water - but it made me think of the old paintings of a ship tossed at sea.  Turner, perhaps?

It's loving light and loving colors that.....

Hey!  I am typing here at this Forum on a low-intensity sky-blue background,
surrounded by no-man's land of marshmallow-white
which is then surrounded by a super-high-intensity opaque SKY BLUE WOW

BEAUTY.

Do we all see the some Colors when we come to this Forum?

And now that the previous message is posted, I see the same colors being used.  But the words are on a white background and there's much less of the low-intensity high-value blue.  It's okay, but I'd rather be here - where I'm typing right on the light blue.

Being aware of this now
makes it a treat to post here.
Go ahead everybody - enjoy.
I'm interested in your experiences.

Speaking of your marshmallow white makes me think of the beautiful clouds I was admiring yesterday.  I kept thinking I wanted to make a cloud face.  I think I would love that, but would anyone else?  It makes me think of the tie dye face I offer.  I love that face, but get few requests for it.

I'm not as facile with uploading my pictures here - It's a big job for me each time I do it - even just finding the picture I'm thinking of....

But maybe you can imagine this:  One of the faces I used to make a lot is a white mask of cloudlike scallops.
Filled with pink hearts and little blue stars.  At first I was real excited with it - so glad when people asked for it from my sample-sheet.  But then I didn't take it out so often - because I lost the softness of the 'cloud' - it started looking too solid - not as lovely as planned.  So I'd fuss around with it, which isn't a good idea.  Just wasting time before I just gave up, stuck on the hearts and stars, and luckily didn't have much time to spend accepting the humility of knowing that I still needed to learn stuff.

So I put it aside, haven't gotten back to it yet.  If you have any ideas about making that cloud look lovely, I hope you'll tell us.

I haven't tried it yet.  Too much busyness in my life right now and I have another fair starting tomorrow.  Maybe when the slow season rolls around I'll have more time to try new things.  I would want it to be realistic.  I saw some Thomas KinKaid (sp?) paintings the other day and I wanted the clouds to look like his... so realistic to me... and beautiful.

Wow - I can't imagine that for Face-Painting.  Especially for painting a cloud without a full scene...
I hope you'll post that when you figure it out.

As far as the artist you mention, I think his name is spelled Kinkade.

Like I said - I'd sure like to see that.

Meanwhile, I finally found a picture of my cloud.
Thought you might like to see it:

Pretty one Alison, thanks for sharing it.  Smiley  Do you usually have a board for people to choose from?  Just curious.

Here I am again.  Midl of the night, surfing the web - even though my first gig tomorrow starts at 7 am, and my 2nd gig tomorrow ends at 11 pm.  Yeow.

But my client sent me some ridiculous clip-art that she wants me to paint on everyone's face.  I had to think up some ways that that the stuff might look right.

I'm still stuck on her sillouette of a witch on a broom.  How to paint that ON A FACE?  Maybe, maybe, make it real small on the forehead with swooshes of color on an angle?  Oh, I don't know.  It might be too detailed to make so small.......

So I'm not sleeping yet.  And how about that ghost that she wants?  Could I smash it onto the center of the face?  Lol - maybe things will seem simpler when I get there.

Here I am again.  Anybody with me?
