I'm with you.  I think I started my own business, because I do like to do things my way.  And when I'm not allowed the freedom to choose what I'd like to offer, it's a bit frustrating.

How about the witch silhouette on the cheek?  Sometimes foreheads can be so small.

I'm baaack again.  Midl of the night and here I am - at facepaintchat.

This morning's face-painting party was okay.  A bit slow - there were actually very few people at this corporate thank-you party, and most of them were very quiet.  So I actually had plenty of time to even make up stuff for the people who hired me.  Spiders with webs, Monsters with skeletal-structure, things like that.  And then the kids only wanted very very small things.  I was so prepared with the 4 clip-art pictures that my client displayed, but I was only asked to do one cat sillouette and a few ghosts.  Might have been the easiest gig ever.

Hello out there - Last night you would have found me a twistin balloons here.
I did that instead of going to a balloon jam.

I found that I just jumped into balloons.  Seemed so easy, people were so welcoming,
I just ended up picking up all sorts of things from other Artists.  But I never really Learned
the basics.  I knew to 'twist', but I didn't know why it was sometimes called a 'pinch-twist'.
And while I knew how to do a lock twist in specific instances (like the handle of a sword
or the midl of a ray-gun), but I didn't really understand it.  Until last night.

Instead of going to the jam
with all those dazzling artists,
I stayed home
and took the time to do some very basic things.
Like, of course I knew the 1-balloon dog.  And I figured that I could always figure out other animals based on that one (the giraffe's neck is longer....), but I never really did them.  I kinda bypassed that - like, oh, that's simpl stuff.  Let's learn to do a mutliple-balloon dog.  How about a woven skirt?

So I pulled myself back last night.  Did basic, 'boring' stuff.
And now I feel
more solid.

Middle of the night - What are You doing?
Tonight I'm preparing for a face-painting gig.
I plan on packing up the new colors that I recently bought.
They won't fit IN ADDITION TO the colors that are already
in my kit.  Not sure yet if I'm going to replace the old colors
or if I'm just going to bring the new circles along in addition
to all the old colors.

This thread is beginning to feel like my own blog.
Isn't there anybody else out there in the world
who does this stuff in the midl of the night?
What sort of stuff are you doing tonight?

I'm probably not going to be doing any drawing, painting, or balloons tonight.
Just paperwork and prepareations and stuff.

Still, I want to write about about the new colors that I brought along today.
Diamond FX black and white.  I was disappointed that they didn't wow me.

Maybe the black held on longer - that was good.
But the white was not brighter.  And when I had to write white 'Mets' over
the circle with building and bridge, it did not go on any better.  Maybe because
I was just painting my old stuff, which was already working fine with the Paradise White,
which is a good thing, but I was disappointed that Diamond FX wasn't the magical winner
that I had imagined it was going to be.

I've had such a different experience with the DFX white, but then again, I haven't tried Paradise yet, so maybe that's why.

I started out using Snazaroo and when I tried the Wolfe and Diamond FX white, it really was a big difference for me.  I still use Snazaroo white for sponging, but I use the Diamond Fx white for line work because it covers dark colors much better than Snaz.  I haven't had the opportunity to try Paradise yet, but would love to.  I also think the DFX black has smoother lines than Snazaroo, but I prefer Snaz for sponging black because of the staining of the DFX.

Hi!  I'm so glad you're here with me.  No faces, but still here.  I just needed some faces for practice - of course, nobody in my house was available.  So now I have an excellent tiger painted on my face - with no place to go.  And my two mannequins - one has a slightly different tiger, and the other has an excellent snake.

I'm so glad there are other people here.  I did a double-take tonight when it seemed like one of my mannequin heads was blinking.  Freaky, but it was the high-intensity light that caused the handle of my paintbrush to become a moving shadow across her eye.

Hello out there in the world.  From Alison's studio in NY.

And I remember being wowed by another artist's lace.  She had showed me to go over my softer white base by using the brush with Diamond FX.  I'm going to give it another chance.  Yesterday was probably just too course - because it was one of those events where client wanted me to 'not be so fancy' so they could get lots of 4-year-olds painted.

And tonight - tonight it's already 9:15 pm, and I'm just going to handle a litl paperwork
so I can get to the folder underneath (and I'll fit in the dishes and a litl research
somewhere)

so I can be ready for a last-minute job I accepted today
for tomorrow.  I don't even know what time I'll have to wake
up for it yet.

Alison's Studio in NY is a Happenin' Place.  Especially at midnight.
But I'm always dreaming of getting to sleep earlier.  I think it
would be good for me, but it's too scarey to chance getting the work done on time

Middle of the night - I think I'll go pay the oil-bill, then I'll finish preparing for tomorrow's party.
You?  Anybody working with me tonight?

Alison, I just moved to a new office....Been there 2 weeks.  Last Friday my supervisor there stopped to tell me he had noticed my efforts in bringing up the moral of the office by making all the balloons that I give to everyone around.  I was really impressed that he noticed and that he was grateful.  It's a nice feeling.

Congratulations on making that heart, that truly is an accomplishment and will get you a long way.
