new here
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:52:52 PM »

Hi my name is Michelle I am new at this, I am 28 and I live in a small town in Kentucky. I graduated college in 2005, from Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A in Sequential Art (a.k.a comics) and a minor in jewelry. I fell in love with face painting when I was in Savannah but never had the chance to do it. This last month I got a hair brained idea that I was going to paint faces at a local festival that just happened. So I went and got face paint practiced some, made some crafts and what do you know I made some money even though I am a newbie. So next year I will be better and maybe I will not have a airbrush tattoo booth beside me  Smiley I want to keep this up and improve.

Awesome Silverdragon!  Welcome to the board.  Keep looking for events to get into.  You'll be getting the experience you need and if you have some business cards made up, you'll start booking parties and continue to improve.  That's how I got started anyway.   Grin

Welcome to the board Michelle. Sounds like you have a leg up on all the action figure designs! Good luck. Is SCAD that big, or did you hear about it from someone else. I remember when they first came to Sav. They improved the surrounding area lots. Again, good luck.

I found out about SCAD because I wanted to do comics, they are one of the only 2 schools in the country that has a B.F.A and masters program in comics. I never found anyone that went there until after I graduated, now there are a couple of people from my home town that has gone there and one person I graduated high school with. If I did not go to SCAD I would have gotten a degree in archeology maybe have gone to Scotland to college.
