Gettinng Connected!
« on: October 12, 2009, 10:48:51 AM »

Hi To All! Want to couple facepainting with my photography, which is at the enthusiast level. I became attracted to the craft a couple of years ago and have been working at it when I get the chance. A teacher by profession (high shool history and chorus), but want to explore more of my "arts" side now. I did something daring and actually ordered my first paints and a practicehead (Usually I buy small pallets from the art store and practice on my dog-just kiddin-she won't hold still!). Anyway, I'm a little shy, as I never drew much before, but discovered I have a knack for it.  My kids are all artists, so I guess they get it from somewhere. Just want to be happier in my work and I'm so happy when I paint.  Had a chance to paint some little kids last spring and it went well, but I'm having a hard time transitioning and meeting people.  Oh I live in Santa Monica, CA and work 90 miles from home, so I'm probably leaving the beach soon (don't wanna), so I can spend more time focusing on what I'm gonna do next.

Hi Shellfish,

When you say that you're having a hard time transitioning, do you mean that you're having a hard time doing it professionally and getting paid?  Or are you new to the area you're living in?

If it's face painting professionally, we can probably tell you the things we did when first starting out.  Smiley
Welcome to the board, btw!  Smiley

Hey thanks for getting back so quickly, both of you! Feelin better already! Yes, I meant new to getting started professionally in facepainting. I've taken a facepainting class and intend to take more but I'm so wanting to get this going! Need to set up a webpage, make cards, get insurance...Whew! I'm exhausted!
