I have found that temperature and humidity really affect my base-coating ~ it was great at my first festival several weeks ago ~ a pleasant weekend with low humidity, but this past weekend I painted outside with cool, wet weather, and my basecoats just were not drying ~ I couldn't get a good blend to save me! I am considering Starblends, used DRY with a smoothie-blender. I've read pros and cons and wonder what y'all think about them....I'm impatient about getting to the details that I love doing, and it seems that they would be ideal, even if not as intense as wet color...Anyone?

I started out with Starblends. I always have them on hand for these sweaty events, because they're a lifesaver. I apply them dry as well. Another tip is the shimmer powders. I apply them over face paint and that seems to help too. I tried that over the weekend. I'd already applied a superman mask to a little boy and I could see it getting sweaty and trying to run, so I pulled out my blue shimmer powder and dabbed it all around the blue area. I believe I saw him later and it was standing up to the heat.

What's a Shimmer-Powder?
Once, I nearly bought a very small set of small shimmery paints (I think it was something like Ben Nye Lumiere), but I was shocked by the Price! I decided not to buy it.
But that's not what you mean, is it? It sounds like you're talking about a powder that you 'dust?' Over the paint?

When I think of the shimmer powders, I think of a loose shimmery powder that you dust over the face. The package I just sent you is a red shimmer powder by Snazaroo... the GlitterArti brand.

Yes, they do and depending on the skin type or weather they may stick to the wrong area. When I do the black batman mask, I find that bits of powder fall on the nose or cheeks. Sometimes I'll tap it before applying to the face when I'm having this problem. I have problems with the shimmer powders doing the same thing.

My glitter arti red iridescent shimmer powder arrived - Thank You Sherry!
Of course, my first ahghk was that, oh my goodness - how will I even open this without spilling it - let alone how could I use it Outdoors. I guess I'll figure that out when the time comes.
Meanwhile, I put red (looks pink) over my eyes - strange, but I just wanted to see how it applies. Seemed like it would work no bettr than the small solid cake of rouge that I have already. But I also put some on my lips - oooh, so lovely. After a while, I licked my lip a little - It was still there!
And I just absolutely have to get some more colors. It is special, beautiful.

New to the Glitter-Powder. Would anybody share their method of application for when they want to put glitter-powder all over the face? Would you use the little sponge-brush? Or would you use a regular sponge?

I usually use the smoothie applicators for big areas. I use the smaller applicators that come with eyeshadow kits for smaller areas. Sometimes I tap it a little to keep the excess from flying all over. I've also tried applying with a small brush.

I am WILD about Starblends! I have a huge amount of many pressed powders, but Starblends and the Ben Nye Lumineres are my favorites.
