Attracting attention to your booth
« on: July 09, 2009, 01:39:18 PM »

How do you attract attention to your booth?  I did an event a few weeks ago, that didn't go very well.  I was right next to a booth selling eggs and they happened to bring a live chicken along, so everyone made a beeline that day to see the live chicken.

One thing I've done in the past is to paint the vendors children or give out a few freebies to start the day off, attract attention and get more business.  I've heard some people get attention with a bubble machine.  I bought a bubble machine this weekend and plan on using it, so we'll see how it works.  I'm also planning on hanging balloon art from my canopy.

I'm wondering if others have any tricks to attract more attention to your booth?

I did the hanging balloons by accident. It was on the 4th and I was set up a few minutes before the event was supposed to start, so I decided to get a little ballon practice in. As soon as I started a little girl started hollering at her Grandma, "Look, he's making a sword", which I was. Instant gratification, check. I'll make another one. "Look Grandma, he's making a poodle", again I was. I was like man, I bet if these can get seen I'll draw a crowd. I made up a bunch more, cut some twine I had in the misc. tub, and put up several along the outside of my tent. It worked, the kids saw it from a mile off. The only thing was the sun/heat? After a while the balloons looked a little wilted, but that was remedied by some new ones. Try it!

Blow bubbles!
But not if you are set up next to a water color artist.
