I am new to face painting but I just love it......I have always been creative and when my daughter asked me to try it fro my granddaughters's b-day party I thought I'd just try it .....try it ? I LOVE IT!!! I have done a couple of free school things, passed out business cards and have a couple of paying gigs signed up ............couple of questions though? the glitter poufers? I'm guessing it is a trial and error thing....but I have had a couple of questions about spraying hair spray on a face design.....is that something others do ? thanks

I don't spray hairspray on the face paint, but I believe it fixes the design and makes is less likely to sweat off. I wouldn't spray it on any of my paying customers, but I think it's handy to know. I did try it on myself at a hot event one time. I think it's similar to Mehron Barrier Spray.

Never tried it yet. But I could see it working great on an arm or hand. I'd be really careful to apply it on a face.

Thanks to you guys, I tried it on my body painting ladies who worked as bar tenders all night. I painted them from 2-4 p.m. and Aquanetted the heck out of them, carefully enough with the aerosol to dry in between light coats. Well at 10 when I went to the bar to have a drink with my sweetie all the girls still looked great, even I was impressed!

Awesome! I'm so glad you tried it, so now we all know. Did you spray a coat before starting, or only after the finished product?

Only after I was all done, I did not try to paint over the hair sprayed parts at anytime, I dont know how that would work. I would suggest aerosol because I think a pump spray would spray too big of drops of the liquid therefore "melting" the paint.

Mandi,
Thanks for being the first to try the spray. Did it leave their skin feeling sticky?

LOL, we've been engaged for almost a year now, just haven't been able to set a date or anything because of his recent unemployment and lack of funds etc. It will be my second marriage anyway, so we arent going to do anything extravagant. Thanks,

I'm not sure what the difference is, but Ben Nye makes a product called sealer, specifically made for the face. It DOES have alcohol in it, though. So, if you are going to use it, have a magazine handy so you can fan the face so it dries before the painted person opens their eyes. Once it's dry, the alcohol evaporates, so there is no problem. You still wash it off like regular face paint. Hair spray works basically the same way. Be sure not to spray too much or it will run. I usually recommend using the hair spray on arms. And the sealer on faces.
