I'm so glad to be here - at facepaintchat.
I'm so stressed. A few weeks ago, I hired a very expensive handiman to help me remove the old carpeting from my office. It involved moving a lot of furniture back and forth - a very big job. I told him that I'll be calling to do this all again as soon as I come up with the money to buy new tiles.
I ordered tiles, waited for them to come in, picked them up, made a 2nd trip to buy the adhesive, borrowed a van to buy the molding, called the company, and set up a 2nd appointment.
They were supposed to show up last week. But less than 24 hours before the day we had scheduled, they called to reschedule - some other customer apparently took precedence over me. We rescheduled for 1:00 today - nobody showed up. I called and called - handiman finally showed up at 2:00. He moved the furniture from one part of my crowded office to make room to lay the first few rows of tiles. It overwhelmed the rest of the office and made it impossible to get into the studio and I have the computer and some stuff in the kitchen and
And he bailed out. Said that something came up at home, and he has to leave. He said he wouldn't charge me for today's work. BUT I CAN'T USE MY OFFICE OR STUDIO! I can't function. I have jobs coming up, jobs that I'm looking in to, all sorts..... You know what I mean!!!
My husband arranged for his helper to come by in two days. Meanwhile, I feel like I can't move. I'm sitting in the kitchen in shock. I should make dinner like normal, but I feel so lost.
So I just plugged in to facepaintchat - a safe place - where you'all understand. And I'm glued here.

And now I just discovered that this moving stuff around caused a big computer gift to get completely broken. I'm paralyzed/sad in shock. Everything has just
Stopped.

Update - I'm exhausted. Just got back from a last-minute job which I had to prepare for in this mess.
What happened was that my husband's friend showed up on time, but said that he had to go to the hospital - wasn't feeling well. Husband miraculously stepped in and we tackled the job ourselves - just like we used to do 30 years ago.
Moving heavy file cabinets, desks, hutches, books, boxes, carts, backpacks, and.......... More than half of the floor is finished!
I have a friend who called during all this. When I told her what was happening, she kept saying 'Oh My G-d", "Oh My G-d". Lol - I really appreciated her - Finally, someone in addition to Sherry (who is several States away) who understands. After a day of getting strength from these responses, I finally laughed. Like, this is the biggest catastrophe in the world? Life is funny how I'm running around with all this Stuff. The stuff of living.
But still, I would really like to get back to my normal overwork-load

This is such a crazy time of the year. Too much to do!
I'm glad you and hubby got it done together. We get so much more done this way. I'm thankful for my family helping me yesterday. Yesterday was supposed to be my day off to get my house cleaned and much needed stuff taken care of, but instead I got sick. Weak, achey, nauseous. My poor little kids running around with no one to help them out. If I'd get up, my heart would start beating so fast. But my mother and sister swooped in took the children, did my dishes and brought me some Theraflu.

Awwww. Gee Sherry. I Sincerely Hope you're not still suffering!
My floor is Almost all done. And then there's the open doorway into the giant closet where I have Tons of photographs in huge boxes. Actually, it's for the best if have to house-sit tomorrow (Halloween). Maybe - and I Really Hope - Maybe we'll get it done.
My office is looking So good now (even tho still unuseable). The light gray tiles make it look Much bigger. And I had to buy light gray bcause I didn't want to repaint the walls which are light gray enamel. I had been thinking that it might look too cold/uninviting, but it ended up looking So Clean and Germ-Free.
