I'm old enough that I won't even give energy to what people might think.
I use what I know, or I wouldn't be interesting.

Still, I'm not really of the 'Lon Chaney generation'. 
Even I knew of him from 'old movies'.
My Mother was a movie buff - we had lots of that around.
And one of the first times I became really Aware that the movie-stars didn't actually 'look like that' was when I found captions under the Lon Chaney pictures in a very verbose book.  I think it was
