Practice Heads

http://[glow=red,2,300]Hi All,[/glow]
Just curious if anyone used a practice head?
I am wondering if I should invest in a head or buy the replacement slip head (just the facial cover) and using it to cover a cheaper styrofoam head.

Do any of you use the practice sheet that looks like skin?

Not sure what to buy.  I would love to practice but I don;t want to spend a fortune on more stuff since I have not had one paying job.
Thanks for any advice.

I dont know about he practice heads but he practice sheet that looks like skin is a wast of money b/c if you dont use light paint it absorbs the color and  I cant get it clean enough to work. I find the best next thing to a live model is your leg or arm.... I hope that helps

When money was tight for me, I got a Bratz styling head through freecycle and that worked fine for practicing and trying out new designs.  A year into my business, I bought a Proface because I thought I needed it for my Mark Reid class, because the guidelines said to bring a practice head.  We never used it.  I think that may have been guidelines for the entire convention and not his specific class.

I also thought the Proface would be more like real skin.  I found out that the brush still slides around on the Proface, just like it did on the Bratz doll head.  Real skin is much better.  I would try to pick up a free styling head or try your local Beauty school to get their bigger styling heads that they no longer need.

Wwwwweeeellll - I like my Practice Head.

It's nothing like painting on real skin.  It's so smooth that I've given up on being concerned about the quality of the painting.  But I bought one that's a pretty-version of
Me.  I like her.
