Tips for new face painters?
« on: November 22, 2009, 05:43:30 PM »

I'm thinking of starting a post with the best tips for face paint artists starting out.  If you'd like to contribute...  What would be the best tip(s) that helped you or would have helped you the most when you were first starting out?

Be confident!
Don't worry about your time per face, if you stress it takes longer.
Practice 12 designs, put them on your poster, get good at them, stick to those until you are more comfortable slowly adding in a few more.
Update your pictures as your work gets better!

Great advice Mandi.
I love this thread.  Being a new face painter, I have realized that it is easier to paint my face or my arm...more then painting a moving child.
So, practice, practice, practice.
And....don;t expect perfection.  Only you notice the flaws.
The child is excited for his/her face being painted.  The parents are exctited b/c their child is happy.

I agree.  When I was first starting out, I would think I did just awful on a design and the family would be raving about how good it was!

When I make up the face painting tips, I think it'd be a good idea to credit the artist that contributed, so if you'd like a shout out, send me your name and the email you'd like posted.  Smiley

Thanks!
