I carry several shades of lipstick. I have used these as well as some of the face paint in my designs. In several videos, I noticed a product applied with a q-tip. Is this gloss, face paint glitter or another product? Since people go on talking, drinking and eating after we do their faces, if this stuff gonna stay on long? Or is there a certain product that goes the distance?

I use face paint, but I want to start using lipstick. I hate how the face paint will wash right off on the lips. I know a lot of artists use q-tips, so they can have a new one for each new customer.

More to carry. I like the way lipstick works better, but I figure that it's better to keep it all Face-Paint, anyway. Plenty of people do no want their little children starting with lipstick - If I do it in Face-Paint, it keeps it's place as 'pretend lipstick'.
And lol - especially if we were going to use red lipstick to make it stay on better for Spiderman - lol lol lol - I could imagine people freaking out over That.

I was also curious about this. I really don't want to use lipstick, as I would haev a problem using the same lipstick that someone else have used (especially kids), so I would not want to do it to others. I have the same reservations about using the same brush that I used to the face - to be used on the lips, for the same reason.
If you are using the paint - do you use different brushes? I see the Q-tips idea, and I like it, but I cannot picture Q-tips being a good thing to paint ont he lips with. I will try though.
Has anyone tried using like cheap eye-shadow applicators (the ones at Walmart in packs of like 10-20) - would that work? Is that cost-effective at all?

I use q-tips for the lips and my regular face paints. I cut the q-tips in half and fill a baggy with them. I apply the face paint on the q-tip with a little less water than nomal, I have found that it stays on longer.

I saw some inexpensive halloween colored lipsticks. I will probably pick up a few. I have been using q tips to apply the different lipsticks. If it's a full face, I just use the face paint on the lips, like I use it everywhere else.

I think the q-tips that are not so fuzzy work better. The ones that are hard and flat on one end and hard and pointy at the other.

I paint with my daughter who is a licensed cosmetologist and she is off the charts about sanitation... especially when working with our darling little "germ factory" clients. LOL We use Q-tip brand of q-tips... the cotton tip seems to stay on better then the cheaper brands... and we use a new one on each person with face paint. I like Gina's idea of cutting them in half to make them go farther. It is by far the most sanitary thing to do. We also tell the children that this is just pretend "lipstick" and will come off pretty quickly. The parents are happier that way too. Lori (Sealmom)
