Face painting in the cold!
« on: November 27, 2009, 07:21:14 PM »

I did an event today and it was so cold!  Cold and windy all day.  What was I thinking?  This warm Florida weather has made me lose my senses and forget that the cold was coming... eventually.  I'm already booked for a bunch of events this month and after tonights event I'm dreading it!

Except for the events I'm already booked for, I think I'm going to back off for the next few months.  Anyone else paint in the cold?  Any tips?

I was painting away on my last customer and I was hating it.  My hands were so cold and I was starting to shiver.  I ended up leaving early.

I just did the same dang thing 2 hours south of you. I woke up this morning in 47* weather in Naples to drive 4.5 hours home and face paint at a gig in the cold tonight.
It was a dang pay per face gig, and I think I am really beginning to understand why Shannon only does fully paid per hour gigs, because after a night like tonight, I am ready to call charging per face quits. But I can't get more gigs without being out there, somewhere?!?!

My fingers are numb, my sister left early cause she had her son with her, and I had to take the tent down by myself. Cold metal not cool to mess with!!

I am so tired, exhausted, and after thanksgiving, over my family too!!

Aw, poor Sherry ~  Cwazy wut ppl will du when they're focused on may-king munny.
It's lok, lok we loooz r cents-of-self er sumtin.

I've certainly found myself in that situation too - more often when I was a newbie, but still every once in a while.  I've tried to work with those gloves that have the fingertips cut off.  Ended up taking them off tho - Even if the gloves didn't rationally get in the way, they just bothered my freedom of expression.

AW - POOR MANDI TOO!  I'm so sorry you had to suffer for your ahrt.

Really, though.  Sometimes, if I really don't want to be there, I've found that nobody else (the buyers)  want to be there either.  Hard to admit, but it will be a waste of time - moneywise.  But in terms of really experiencing Life - like the Explorers in National Geographic - WOW!

Yeah, I don't think anyone wanted to be there.  Most were packing up early and the rules state we were supposed to stay until 8 p.m.  There really weren't any more customers coming through.
