I did a local Mom's event in our city and all my leads so far have come from mom's that I met at that first event. I did get a lead from my business card at the local face paint store. But, other then that....I am not busy at all.

I used to advertise in a local family magazine, but that kinda dropped off a few summers ago and I couldn't afford the advertisement anymore. I did get lots of call, just not a ton of bookings, but I was doing girls makeover parties as well as face painting then.
I have my website, I think I get most calls that way, I made sure to go into google and put in the free listing so it pops up first when you type in face paint in my area. You can add pictures too.
I still have alot of hook ups in town, talkative people I am in with from doing parties, etc. Local schools I try to do their fundraisers and they let me put cards up in the office.
Lately I've got nothing on the books?? whats up with that?

Yeah, I got a lot of bookings right before Christmas and then right after things really died off. Thankfully I've started getting more calls within the last few days and a few bookings. They don't always book, but I know if I'm getting calls it's only a matter of time.

I thought Jan would be really slow - and I was kind of glad, cause then I'd have time to do paperwork and taxes and all of that, haha. I'm up to 6 bookings for Jan (not including my cousin's birthday), from ZERO until NYE.
Leads are from CraigsList, Facebook, trade shows, and a lot of word of mouth/referral/spin offs from past parties. Actually, that cafe I did the window display for a couple of weeks ago has already gotten me 2 bookings!
I went for lunch yesterday with a friend, and brought him a giant balloon beer mug hat as a belated birthday present. I ended up making our waitress a ladybug bracelet (and got applause! Ha!), giving her a bunch of cards (hopefully she relays our chat about kids night to her manager...), and selling two more ladybugs to a woman who works in the kitchen...you just never know, right?

Oh Good Luck with the Kids Night Krystal. I get most of my calls actually, from previous parties. Sometimes I'm called back year after year, and sometimes my name gets passed around a group.

Craigs List and Kijiji both have free listings. I have got a few responses and bookings from each. I have a hard time attaching pix on Craigs List when I enter under Event or Creative Services. Kijiji offers 8 pix to attach. I just got a call from a woman in NEW YORK (Allison) who has a company that will be working out of Chicago as well as NY. I'll be working a Mardi Gras in Chicago for 3 hours, so I am practicing my masks and more. I don't do parties for JUST adults much (have I ever? think, think), so I am very excited. Their budget for 3 hours was $200, which is less than I would like. But I can put out any of my advertising, I can bring a guest and enjoy unlimited cocktails. Not to mention, I will have an "in" with this event planning company.
So yeah! Check out both C.L and Kijiji - they do generate some business. Just don't expect a ton.

Something to think about. I've tried Craig's List and had the same problems with posting photos. I know it's possible, because I've seen others ads, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've been contacted by the Kijiji, but didn't follow up. Looks like I'll have to give it a go.

Funny world these days. People call NY to book in Chicago and they call Chicago to book in NY. However it works, just keep working. Mardi Gras Adult Parties are much fun
