Sick and working? yuck
« on: March 03, 2010, 06:39:44 AM »

So I did a festival last weekend and lots of little kids sneezed on me. Now I have a cold and I have a festival coming up this weekend as well ... any tips to get over this in a snap so I am up and ready for this weekend?

I just hate feeling like I'm spreading my germs...

I know what you mean Vi.  I was hired by the city for a festival last year.  It was a well paid event and I had no back up.  I caught a cold the very week I was supposed to work it.  I had a constant runny nose.  I didn't want to spread my cold to anyone, so I used Germ-x like crazy.  I tried to keep from getting too close to anyone and I kept hankerchiefs by me for my runny nose.  I tried to as discreetly as possible turn to under the table and wipe my nose between customers.  It was not a pleasant situation.

Maybe try Airborne or possibly Vitamin c and d3.

Aw gee ~  I'm sorry you're not feeling well.
Seriously Plenty of Rest, like Stay in Bed all day.  Drink hot water.  Vitamin C.  Aspirin.  Wash alot.  Soup.
All day all night for a couple of days.  Even though you probably feel like you could be up and tending to your responsibilities.

Could you imagine?  Taking a whole day to laze around like that in your nightgown?  The world won't stop.

I have a big job on Saturday, too.  Actually, I have to gear up for my jobs.  When I have only one or two a week, I need time, even when I'm healthy, to 'Think Face-Painting' before the gig.  And then tone-down time afterwards.  I'd only 'stay On' if I had another gig

I do too.  So much seems to go into the before time of an event.  I had a restaurant 2 hour gig last night.  Earlier in the day, I had to break all my stuff out.  Make sure it was clean and pack what I thought I would need.  I also needed to switch a few pictures on my board.  Then load my stuff.  All of this before I even ironed my outfit or got myself ready.  I don't know about everyone else, but I find I need a lot of prep time.

I just re-read your post Alison.  I think I misinterpreted it, now I think you meant you need to mentally gear up?  Oops!   Smiley

Yeah ~  I was talking about mentally gearing up.  Not to say that I don't also have to do what you were writing about - I call that Prep Work.

But the mentally gearing up, getting into the zone, party attitude, in tune with the appropriate artwork, confidence.....  Then down-time, the relief and amazement after a good job.    So much going on in the head.  Gotta keep on going.  I'm as affected by my work as I am by my shower.
