Any pirate party ideas?
« on: March 10, 2010, 12:48:50 PM »

I have a pirate party coming up and I'm wondering if you have any ideas I haven't thought of for this theme?  I have the classic pirate face with the patch, skull and skull with crossbones.  Or possibly pictures to share?

• a treasure map over the face. Make dots leading to the X where the treasure lies, matey. Add lagoons, palm trees, rock etc on the island map. Put blue around it for the water!
• do the rows of eyes face like J. Depp in Pirates of the Carribean
• also check out the photos from the movie: one character (Bill - move #2) has a starfish on his face along with barnacles and such. Yuck
• Anchors
• compasses
• sharks
• ships
• cannons
• mermaids for girls
• half face pirate half face skull

Hope that helps. Have fun!

Have you done your Pirate Gig yet?
Do you think Parrots would fit in with your repetoire?

Yep, we did the pirate party.  Not a lot chose the pirate designs we offered.  And wouldn't you know, the ones that did went to the other artist that worked the gig with me.  She got to do a few parrots, but I didn't get one request.  I did get to do one treasure map and one pirate, but that was it.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm starting to dread the Spiderman.  2 1/2 years and I think I've done it too many times.  I heard a boy chanting in line, "I'm getting a Spiderman, I'm getting a Spiderman, I'm getting a Spiderman."  And all I could think, was, "please Janet be finished with your face before me, so you can take this Spiderman request."  Of course, she wasn't, so I got him.   Tongue

We are just like rock stars who are tired of playing their #1 hit. If it keeps me in green; I'm smiling. Of course, we can think of different versions of the same request. Make it a bit more of a challenge and keep it interesting for us!

Figures that you didn't really need all your prep-practices.  But we feel so much more confident when we prepare properly.  And if you didn't......welll....you Know it would have been a gig of Pirate-Requests.

As far as the Spiderman, I do like the idea of playing with it when you're ready to go out of your mind.  But hey!  I was just going to write about focusing on the people instead of on  the painting, when I realized - THIS IS THE TIME THAT I COULD EXERCISE MY INTEREST IN MY EXERCISING.  I mean, when you know just what to slap onto that face - like lalalalala - then you can focus on sitting up properly, twisitng your abs when you turn to load your brush, breathe in and oooouuuuuut........
