Exercise
« on: March 20, 2010, 10:25:40 PM »

I'd been spending a lot of time at the gym during slow-season - addicted to it, actually.
Weight machines, Treadmill, Balls at the gym, and some other activities here at home.

I'm super-glad that business is picking up now.  But every day that I work, I miss out on all that personal development.  Today, for instance, I only had a little time here at home, then I went right out to my gig.

Got there a little early, and found a little park nearby - thought I'd do a few crunches.  But, aghk - Geese were in that park, if you know what I mean. (Oh - I just realized that I could have at least walked or jogged, but I hadn't thought of that then.)

Anyway, I ended up just reading (that was nice) before an all-afternoon gig.  By the time I got out, my gym was closed (It closes at 5:00 on the weekends).   I would have just swung into my regular routine if I had gone to the gym, but that wasn't going to happen here at home.  I don't want to backtrack - don't want to lose the positive direction I had been on.

I have another gig tomorrow - That's Great.  But I'll be spending the day uplifting others.  Ignoring my self.  Instead of trying to fit in the extra activity when it's ridiculous to do so, I WISH I KNEW A WAY TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH MY BODY WHILE FACE-PAINTING.  Any ideas?

I don't have any ideas, because I've had the same problem.  I don't think I've exercised in a week.  Things have been getting hectic and it's sort of pushed my daily jog out the window.  Hopefully I'll pick back up tomorrow, because I have a gig scheduled today.

I think you just have to make it a priority and a daily task that you will fit in no matter what.  That's what I normally do, but I slacked and haven't gotten back on task.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh EXERCISE! My youngest daughte (age 19) still lives at home while going to college to be a teacher - she commutes) ant ways - she bought the exercise program INSANITY by SHAWN T - it is the hardest home work out ever made, so two months ago - I started it with her, it was killer, twisted in ways I hadn't twisted since I was her age! You know what I mean! Any ways one and a half hours of hard workout everyday, And after two weeks, I started lovin it! I have a bad bad back, so I would just do some of the stuff, while she could do it all! BUT after two weeks, my back started feeling better, I couldn't believe it! and I could TOUCH the FLOOR by bending down and putting my hands on the floor! Hadn't done that in many years! Wow I was impressed, than I came down with the flu and was in bed for three days! Got off the schedule od exercising and never got back onto it! Now I have to start all overagain! But she has continued and is looking tight and great, but I thought she looked that way before the program! So iI guess I will get back with the little gal and have at it again! Ahh hate getting old and out of shape! But wait I DO HAVE A SHAPE!   It is round! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! life is so short, gotta smile thou. round and happy!

Oh you make me laugh.  It's good to talk about it.

Funny, because last night, right after leaving face paint chat and having written about that exercise-dilemma, I got myself to do 40 minutes of exercise right here.  It got all the kinks out.  Was seriously going to do 20 minutes more, but then I was inspired to read the Bible - having decided that I'd have to choose 20 minutes of Bible or 20 MORE minutes of exercise.....

And then, then, this morning, EVEN BEFORE A GIG!!!, I got myself to the gym for only 1/2-hour of weight machines (no jogging - I didn't want to sweat too much).  At least it did get me in touch with my body.  Like you say, making it a priority because I really want to do it.....

But my question still stands HOW CAN WE STRENGTHEN OUR BODIES WHILE WORKING?
I mean, like the UPS-man might be bending and lifting those heavy boxes properly.  Or an assembly-line worker might have figured out a way to focus on her muscles so that her repetitive motions are more like working on an exercise machine.  I'm not looking to avoid physical stress during work - I'm a-wantin to corrall some of our activities to be healthful instead of stressful (or blah)

Maybe you can turn the process of painting into artistic exercise/dance. Then you could become a interpretive dancing face painter and charge even more! Start practicing your turns and pirouettes! I predict your going to be competing for Ms Universe Body Building next. Go, girl. I exercise so rarely. May you motivate us all! Grin

Painting on Canvas - well that's one thing.
But it is hard to be gentle and careful for the 'canvas' while doing that - even if the music is dreamy, I'm sure I'd be mindlessly flicking that brush.  So it might not be safe for Face-Painting.

Ahahaha! Love it...

I don't have the answer to what we can do while on the job...but I'm pretty proud that I HAVE started working out again. I used to go to a pole dance studio, then got into a car accident and hadn't been in about 3 years. I'm more or less ok now, and they opened a new studio closer to my house...at the end of the year they had a promo - sign up for a membership and get 25% off - I signed up for a year. And I can't break the contract, so I HAVE to go - I've already paid for it! It's pole and cardio - women only - and I'm taking Pole 101, Dancer's Boot Camp, Tush and Abs, Pussycat Dawls, Sexy Flexy and I just did my first Ball Fit class today - oh MAN are my arms sore!

I've been back into it since January...Can't wait to see what a full year of 2-6 classes a week ends up like!
