hey, whey you buy them they are stiff and believe me, they are dipped in something...i have never put mine up wet either....never. Starch doesn't hurt them a bit...how do you keep your brushes moist? i usually lay them down on a towell and keep the colors separated, then i cover them with a wet rag while i paint...or sometimes, depending on the wind factor, i put them in popsicle holders to keep them separated...the i spray them when it looks like they are getting dry....you?

my brushes are never stiff, I can't think of any brush that I do have that is stiff!  I rinse of swish the brush out in water and place them upside down in a holder and thats it at a gig!  These are Loew Cornell's. they are never stiff, I like a brush that when you paint, will go into any shape or bends that you want, I have about 50 of these brushes, I keep a set for white only, a set for black only. They run any wheres from $3.99 to $5.99 each. This set of brushes are about 10 years old! And the Loew Cornell Liner Brush Round number 1, is my best friend!

As you see these have grips on the handles.  I have very severe wrists, hands, elbow and shoulder problems.  With these grips, I don't have to put a dealth grip to hold on, they seem to help me oh so wonderful! I always buy mine at Joann Fabric Shop.  They always have coupons at the front door for 40% off one ideam. I don't think that I have ever passed Joann's without stopping and buying a brush! And if some oneis with me, well they have to buy a brush too, and if my family is all together , like  me and my four girls, well it's like a home run! HAHAHAHAHA I love the handles, when paint gets on them, it just washes off.  The brushes in the pic are very old, I hate wood handles just for that fact that they peel. and look old fast! It will take you a minute to get used to the grips, but you will love them I assure you. Look and see how tight the brissles are in the pic, and how sharp the points are. and these are old! Yu know if you have a set of brushes , one for white and one for black, you will use less paint! Leave the paint on the brush! And then just dip it into the water, you will not get coffee water either, you waste approx 40% of your paints in the water! Most of the time when I am done painting my water is still pretty clear!  Unless I totally forget and swisk, swish by mistake!
