Hey fellow face painters....I guess my luck is changing!...I am booked all the way through May 1st!...woohoo.....I have two gigs this weekend...don't expect to make much because one is a catholic church picnic for a few hrs. and the other is an open house for about 4 hrs....you just never know...the one that's 4 hrs. is pre-paid so i 'know' i will get money there...the church one didn't cost me anything so it's gonna be all profit as well....even if i only made $50.00 it will be worth it...cause it's only 7 miles from home and so is the other one...

I managed to book a birthday party on the 17th. and then a Rotary Club Frontier Day Event on the 24th....was told that there would be another face painter there but the lady said that this was a huge event with more than 20,000 people attending with a parade and she said that it probably wouldn't make a big difference......anyway, she said 'no problem' ...I told her that i didn't want to upset anyone and she said don't worry about it because they usually have two face painters anyway....so Im good!

I also have another Event on May 1...festival...should be good as well! I'm all set...I might have to order more paint...Sherry??? help.

I'm open for business. I just received a shipment and stocked back up on my rainbows. I have one neon rainbow 50 gm. with a cracked lid, that I plan on putting in the bargain bin, unless someone wants dibs on it for $11.00.

 I'm working on getting the shipping prices in order today.  The storefront has been charging too high on larger orders, so if you order and think the shipping is a bit high, you can contact me directly to get a more accurate quote.  That should be fixed later today.

thanks everyone....i have another event on May 8th...woohoo! i'm going to town now!! Not bragging, just happy for a change! i needed something in my life to go right!...i  have to tell you, this forum has helped me alot...sure keeps my spirits lifted to see all of you guys and how talented you are. It is so nice to h ave a place where people are actually 'willing to share' their ideas, techniques, and pics...Thanks to all of you for everything that you do!! It helps more that I can tell you! You guys are my angels Painted ones that is!...lol

Yeah for gigs! I have three this week, one on thursday evening and two on Sat!  Going to california from the 14th to the 19th of April YEE HAA teaching a class on April 24th in Indiana, then I'm booked for two Ren Faires, one for two full weekends, one for 5 full weekends, two 5 day fairs, 9 children events, three birthday parties, 6 community events, and who knows what else! I am getting pretty full all the way up until Dec 5th! And a possible teaching classes for two days in Ohio for June or July! Yeah summer time I'm lovin it! And if I'm not to tired I can go to the race track every Saturday night from 7pm to 10 pm! Whew! we'll see! I use the track for my fill in stuff! There great with me, just go in side the gates, set up my table and put out my sign! Also two miles from my home they have a childrens garden, that has something going on each Sat morning from 9 am to noon, that I can just go and paint at, I do a pay per face painting there, and I just donate 10% of the total sales.

research! that's how I do it! Lots of research! I devote the first two hours of my morning , monday thru friday, researching! And one hour per day paint practicing! I am very hard on myself and I pretty much stick to this schedule.  Every monday morning I check and read what events are going on for the week.  I then research to see if I can find the name of the person in charge of the event or the groups name. If I can find there e-mail address, I send them a formal e-mail with pictures, or I make phone calls and take to the person in charge, and ask them for their e-mail and send them pictures. I also am a sexual assualt advocate ( I have been one for over 9 years now) there fore I know just about everyone in town that is in any groups, that has kid events,  I paint for abused children group, sexual assualt family get togethers, adopted childrens family group, childrens garden, and so forth.  I have contact with our prosicutors office, so they also call me for events. I went threw the phone book and sent a letter with pictures to every school in my town, sent them to the office for them to hang on their bulletin board for the teachers and I also sent one to each pta president. I read the local part of our newspaper every day on line, to see if there is any events going on, and follow all the same steps for that! On Wed. my hubby brings me home an advisor from a town 20 miles away, I go threw that. on thursday we have a local paper come out that is called the shopper I go threw that! So there is several ways to canvis your area. I know I have several more events that I did not post.  Hopefully some of these ideas will help you.  It takes alote to get your name out. the one good thing I have going for me is, I am the only face painter in my whole town, that I know of! And I have researched that!

wow, you got those basas covered!....i culd devote the whole day to this! however, i am beginning to know who's who ......if you are an abuse advocate, don't they want you to paint for free most of the time? there are an awful lot of people wanting free things out there..... sometimes tips don't get it either cause people will turn their kids loose with noooo money and you are just stuck....what to do

The tips thing is so hard for me to wrap my brain around.  We worked all day at a kids event and barely made any tips.  Had a tip jar, put some money in to get it going, etc. 

Did an event last year 4th of July at the rink downtown, no tip jar visible, but people were piling up the money.

We did a Chick Fil A last night in a more affluent part of town, no tip jar, yet most people tipped.  One guy even threw a $5 into the mix.
