Some people are so rude!

Well let me tell you what happened at my event this weekend!... >:(I guess we need a section for griping!...lol...
Anyway, I was sitting there, minding my own business, painting faces....i had noticed that Dominoes Pizza(not sure if you have heard of them where you are) but they were setting up a booth right next to mine...a few feet away....Anyway, i was working and i nad no one for a while and all of a sudden, some kids came and asked me if i was painting faces for free?? I said "no"...they said ok and looked over and said, "hey, there are the ones that are painting faces for free!" I looked up and noticed that the Dominoes pizza people were not only giving pizza out, there was a girl, sitting on the ground painting faces for free!...

they had about 15 kids in line!...i was furious.....however, being the cool, collected, person that I am(lol)...told my husband to go find the person in charge.....he did and the lady told him that they had not stated that they were going to be face painting on their application, not to mention they were using craft paint to paint with!....

She promptly went over and told them that since they hadn't listed it, they had to stop face painting....they did, and left!....Talk about rude ....I was there to make money and it isn't like I didn't have a huge 10" sign on my booth stating "Face Painting"...duh!...How could they sit there and do that next to me knowing I was trying to make some extra money and they were cutting my throat??? Some nerve!...I knew up front that there was supposed to be another face painter there, but it wasn't them...this lady was placed clear on the other side of the park and we never even saw each other!...Anyway, it turned out really good and I only lost about an hour, which was sort of bad since I could have made a few more dollars! Ahh, the free face painters!  <pulling my hair out>    That's great that the festival shut that down.  Your husband is wonderful for doing that for you!  Sometimes I think they take men more seriously, or maybe it's just me.  If I'd went around and asked, the people in charge would have probably said, "I don't know?  They didn't put it on their application that they'd be doing that."  And then left it at that.

When you were signing up at this festival, did you ask them specificly if there'd be people there doing it for free?  Just curious how you guys handled this, because I need to learn a thing or two about how to get these things shut down.  It doesn't seem fair to pay to be somewhere and work so hard setting it up and all the work that goes into it and then see someone merrily painting away for free at another booth.

I always ask if there is to be more than one face painter...always....some of them monitor the amount, some do not....however, i have only been in ones that acutally have two...most of the time, they place us way apart...that doesn't bother me because we all know that one face painter can't handle a whole festival alone. The kids would suffer as a result if there was only one. And most of the time, they manage to put one on each end of the festival.

This particular day, i guess they just decided it would be okay...really made me mad that they were so insensitive to do this, knowing i was next to them doing the same thing...they were basically cutting my throat....the lady that we contacted was more than happy to tell them to stop. Once they told them that they hadn't put it on their appl., they didn't have a leg to stand on....so i probably lost some money in the process...I'm not one to make waves, but fair is far and they were wrong! :
