I made my own split cakes
« on: May 07, 2010, 08:22:44 PM »

I decided to make my own split cakes and keep them in one convenient container.  I bought it ar Michaels for $4.99

I really don't care for the big round ones or the small mini cakes.  These are great for loading your brush.
I find it is the perfect size for swiping the paints.

I am so proud of myself.  But, I am so bummed looking at my cakes all cut up.  I guess eventually they will become all worn out anyways.

Whatcha think?

very nice job on those split cakes! Yes I agree about a two inch long swipe would be great to load your brush. I have been making mine a long time, I use one inch by one inch square pots that I find at hobby lobby, but I was there today and they don't carry them any more!  Well that will make me look else where for a longer container. Again very nice job and their all together in one container very nice

I love the combos too.  It gives me some ideas on mine.  I use the pill containers.  They work fine for me and are deep, so the splits seem to last a while.

I spent half my time this weekend looking around for the little square arty cakes and came away from that VERY V E R Y frustrated.

Thanks for the idea of using the single container GREAT IDEA. I am going to move my stuff into one right away.

holy crap girl! those are filled almost to the top! that's alot of paint you got there!

As for your large round cake, you could spray the paints - let them sit over night so they become soft and squish them back down so it looks full again.... just an idea.
