I was hired to face paint by another entertainment company this week. I found myself fussing over my appearance... my face paint, hair and shirt. Trying to make it fun and colorful and I thought, "I'm trying so hard for someone else's company, why not for my own?" Got me thinking that I needed to step up my game. I used to wear my company shirt, black pants and some small face paint design. For this gig, I was putting my hair up in pigtails to appear cutesy and had a glittery full face butterfly going on. I had a little epiphany! For all my gigs this weekend, I'm really going to go as the fun, face painted face painter and see how it goes. How do you present yourself at gigs? I know some even wear butterfly wings to their events and I love the tie dye look too.

I wear a black pair of capri's or black dress slacks, depending on the weather also I had black t-shirts and white t-shirts made with a face painting logo on the front with my name on top of that, that says Gina the Face Painter. So the kids will know my name. Normally I wear the black t-shirt. I always go with my face painted, normally just some eye art and lots of glitter, or maybe a half face tiger. But I too want to come up with some themes to choice from, maybe a fairy or a princess. I am doing a 7 weekend Ren Faire starting next week end. I am working on a out fit for me to wear to that. But first I have to get my mural done! Ahh only about 20 feet done so far, got about 15 more to go!

I know it can be so hard to focus on and complete projects with little ones needing your loving attention! Here's a pic of the butterfly I was trying out, btw.

I just purchased some GREAT tie dye shirts online (ebay Seller User ID: gigiz-stuff). I got 4 shirts for 47.00. I chose a neon rainbow design and a red, white and blue one. I am thinking of applying my logo/website/phone # on the back shoulder area. I bought the iron-on t shirt transfers. We'll see how that works.
Painting my face goes with the job. It's always fun to see the expression of fellow drivers on my way to the gig. Life's short - gotta be fun and silly!

My daughter took my business card with my business id and had it printed onto a purple t-shirt...i have two separate businesses....on the back of the shirt is my face painting business, and on the front is my window business...i did my business cards the same way...faces on one side and windows on the other.... however, a friend of mine had tie died an old sheet and had cut it out to make a 3/4 length robe for something...it looked alot like a prophets robe...slit down the front...pretty cool looking. I was thinking of wearing it with my t-shirt, sort of like a really long vest over my t-shirt, some capris jeans and tennis shoes. anyway, i just try and be cool and look as professional as i can...howeve, i'm thinking of something really crazy, just not sure what yet!

I'm always a fairy for family/ party gigs. i have 2 main ones' some were tie-dyed Tshirts (mainly rainbow) with variations of my www & what I do on them in computer cut hot pressed sparkling lettering. Bit gutted as the 'matching' skirts & flared leggings i found from an Australian Ebayer got stretched out when I was pregnant, need to sort that out a bit.... I also have other professionally hot-pressed T-shist to match my pink flowery fairy outfit. At the moment I'm mainly wearing my hand-glitter-tattoo'd shirts tho! Oh and tried that pressure sensitive fabric glu & metallic fils on a couple... Don't bother with photo printed stuff; it never lasts and is usually bad image quality too. I swear by the laser/ computer cut stuff...had been wearing my original shirts almsot daily for 4 years until the laundry lost them in Hong Kong... cat x

Yep, based in Uk for forseeable but still taking bookings in HK etc. Must admit at the mo I get good quality tops and paint/ glitter them myself; am finding the tye-dyed t's a bit too casual in shape tho I always get people/ painters saying they love them!
