Nice site!!
« on: June 25, 2009, 07:54:44 PM »

HI EVERYONE!!  Well, I couldn't find an 'introduction' page, so I shall use this.  Have always had an interest in the "artsy" things of the world, and this looks like great fun!  I have sold antiques and even some handmade craft items through the years, but how do you get started in this business?  Any suggestions??  linken74

Have you seen any professional face painters out and about?  I started by face painting my oldest son for Halloween.  I really enjoyed it, but didn't think much of it, once he outgrew that.  Then a year and a half ago, it popped into my head that maybe I could do face painting for pay.

I searched around online to see what other face painters were doing.  Found out where to buy face paints... the GOOD stuff.  Smiley You don't want to use the stuff they sell at Wal-mart, it's thick and heavy on the face.  Professional brands like Diamond FX, Snazaroo, Wolfe, Paradise, etc are vibrant make-ups, made especially for use on the skin.

Get your supplies together, Find some willing victims, er models and then start practising. Smiley  Once you feel you have some good designs together and can do them fairly quickly.  I suggest 5 minutes or less, then you can get out there and get your feet wet.

They have a lot of good face painting tutorials on Youtube that helps teach techniques and whatnot.

I'm so glad you joined.  Welcome to our board!   Grin

:Smiley  Thanks for the info, Sherry!  I am up here in Illinois, and to my knowledge, we don't have any face paint supply stores, only a couple of craft stores.   I haven't had a chance to search around the internet to see if they are available on line - surely they are - and, now I have made a list of the ones I should purchase in the event I pursue this face painting.  Once I procure some paints, brushes, etc. I will need to buy a couple of small watermelons to practice on!   Five minutes isn't very long to paint up a wiggly child!  linken74

I'm not sure where to do introductions either so I'll follow your lead. I am new to face painting as well. I started working with Sherry a few months ago and I love it. My favorite part is coming up with new and fun designs.

Hi Whitney,

I'm so glad to see you here!  Smiley  I like coming up with new designs too.  But then, I feel like I have to keep changing my signs and books... so time consuming!  I decided I needed a better way to change out pictures, so with the boards I'm making up now, I'm using velcro, so I'll be able to change out photos.  Hopefully this will make things easier.
