what do you wear??
« on: July 04, 2010, 12:51:57 AM »

So I was wondering what everyone dresses like for events?

I kind of try and go with a black top and a prilly blue/purple skirt most of the time.
But lately I've been trying to look more professional so it's khakis and a black top.
yes - boring

so how do you guys dress... I'm sure everyone paints their face for gigs.... but what else do you wear?

If I wear civilian clothing, lately it's been a knee length skirt with a fitted tshirt - I try to avoid tank tops - don't need dads getting an eye full! - but I admit for the summer, that my vanity re: t-shirt tan lines makes me waver, haha. Luckily since I need to be in shade anyway, that's not such a big deal.

PPF/B/Non-hourly events: depends on the event. Sometimes the rag doll costume, sometimes my civilian skirt set. Before I bought the skirt, I did black yoga pants and a tshirt, plus an apron. And always, my "No Acrylics" button!

Good question!

If I'm at a larger event and I bring help, I try to coordinate us all with the same theme down to the details:  purple shirt tucked in with a belt into khaki slacks.  Everyone wears a name tag with my logo at eye level and I try to paint or glitter tattoo them as well.

For smaller gigs I do myself I try to stay plain (yes-boring!) but professional and approachable; khaki slacks or dress jeans with a business casual shoe and a solid colored top that doesn't distract from my name tag and logo which I wear everywhere I go.  I am trying to 'brand' my name so I have my logo on alot of things:   literature, name tag, binder, signage and even a 8'x6' piece of carpet I drag with me to bigger events.  Makes it credible and professional. I have a couple of plain, bright tablecloths which make me more playful for painting, or sophisticated for glitter tatts.  I see alot of aprons and that's a sweet look and a totally 'nuther style.  I mention that because I rarely get paint on myself.  More glitter than anything else, and we all know a girl can never be too sparkly!!!!!

Have a great 4th, all!  Freedoms granted and liberty provided to everyone since 1776!  God has indeed blessed America!  But, will He continue?

Oh, I never wear the aprons for fear of paint! It's for events (not birthdays) where I have to have somewhere to hold my money/ID/phone/etc. (It's also a half apron, not a full out 50's housewife one - although some of those are adorable!

I am always super casual.  I always wear black capris, a black or darker colour shirt and sandals.  I paint my face sometimes.
This past weekend, I was hired by the parade committee for the Canada Day parade and I wore a floor length summer dress and sandals.  I think as long as I act professional, people will think of me as professional.  I always have my hair done nice and make up on if not face painted.

I am just me all the time, I am in FLORIDA and I have to admit that most people around here wear beachwear 24-7-365.

I have tried to brand myself lately as the purple girl, I get whatever tshirts/ tank tops I can in purple, and usually have a bandana on of some sort in my hair. I try to get shirts with (ed hardy like) bright designs that look like things I face paint. I am all about very bright things with designs. My nametag is incredible tacky and I made it, so thats funny, but I dont ALWAYS wear it. Most of the times I am in capris/ long shorts and flip flops. I just way to hot with closed toed shoes. Sorry buts its like 95 degrees!!

I am a large girl, heavy chested and dads are gonna get an eyeful no matter what I wear, LOL. But kids feel comfortable with me in the motherly way, so as long as I am not super-cleavage, I think its ok.
