I have been doing events for over 20 years. Only the last five years or so have I been pursuing work on a more regular basis. For the many years, I didn't feel like I needed insurance: didn't work that often and was always working where they paid me and customers got me for free.
But with a few pay per face events under my belt, I am more consciously thinking I need it. Especially when I am bringing MY chairs and tables and MY tent. Things get blown and fall down, what if someone is injured? That worries me. The world is law suit happy.
Here is some information I got from an older posting:
•
www.worldclown.com ( I think this is the cheapest route and it's what I started out with.)
• Specialty Insurance. Their website is
www.specialtyinsuranceagency.com. This is who I get my insurance through.
• The third option I've heard of is
www.clownsofamerica.org. The prices vary, so you'll have to check them each out.
Hope this helps!
