Painting at the high school
« on: November 26, 2010, 08:49:04 PM »

Wow! Painting at the high school tomorrow for the students.  Their school's football team made it to the final playoffs at Ford Field - this is the home field for our states Detroit Lions.  Three charter buses full of students going to the game. Each bus holds 50 passengers, and the buses are full! I will begin painting at 7 am in the morning and paint until the last bus leaves at 1 pm! Pretty nervous tho! I just got word that two seperate newspaper reports will be there, also two seperate TV Crews will be there filming me painting the kids! Wow I better make sure my hair looks good! So that means up at 5am to paint my own face before I leave at 6 am! Also a big artical will be in our towns morning paper tomrrow about my face painting that I have been doing over the past 3 months of football! I have become a football painter! Here is a pic I did a few weeks ago on the master mind of my gig! I meant this man one year ago and became his personal face painter for all his games he goes too! Over the past few months Tom comes to my house one a week and gets his game face on to go to all the schhol sports event! What a man! And his kids graduated over 20 years ago, and he still supports the school spirit! The school has adopted him as their cheer leader!

On the one hand, I'm thinking, you lucky devil, you might make the news!   Grin  On the other hand, sounds like you have your work cut out for you and will be super busy.  Good luck tomorrow!  You'll have to let us know how it goes.  Smiley

IT KICKED MT BUTT! painted from 8 am to 8:30 am, on Tom (the guy that I do all the time) then my line started at 8:30 am and I finished at 2 pm, non stop, never even went poddy! When I finished the last girl, I fell to the floor and just laid their on my back for about 10 minutes, one dad came running over to me and ask if I was alright? I just started laughing and told the kids standing around "IF I AM STILL HERE ON MONDAY WHEN YOU GUYS COME TO SCHOOL, JUST WALK OVER ME" I lost count at 225, I would say that over half was full faces, I had to annouce that I was now doing just half faces to get to everyone, just a proven fact that when face painting is offered for free people want it all! I had request like, "I would like a half green and half white face, with a flaming football on one side, and a brick wall on the other side, with go Olivet eagles on it, and a eagle on my forhead! I would just say "for real!" one mom wanted all that stuff on her three kids PLUS their neck area and their arms painted too! Ahhhh for real! I even had a board with a choice of SIX designs to choice from! I had to stop so many times and tell them to look at the board and have your choices ready. Pretty cheap tippers too! Only made $109 in tips! And that was probly from about 9 people. I had four twenties, two tens, one five and four ones in my tip jar! Tom did pay me $600 for the gig.   Here is a pic of his design that I did on him, I had no time at all to take any more pictures!

Your lettering is soooo perfect! Is that freehand?

Good for you for getting great gigs. Now if I can get my lazy bum out the door
with business cards, sample book and a sample speech!

You are an inspiration!

Thank you so much, and yes it is all free handed.  I use a small loew cornell flat 1/4 inch brush for the lettering. Just keep the brush flat at all times , lay it down on about a 45 degree angle and then make you stroke, and then left up to a 180 degree and raise the brush straight up. Thans howq I do it.
