So do you lay down your white first when doing candy canes? I've been struggling with my candy canes. I thought the white caused the red to look too pink. When I'd lay down red first, the white would pick it up, so I started separating the colors and I didn't like that look either. I tried outlining with black and red. I like how you used the light blue.

For the candy cane mask: I double loaded a sponge & used Snaz Metallic Pink & DFX Metallic white for the base. The candy canes & teardrops were painted with wolfe white & I painted the red stripes with dfx red. I just painted over the white making sure the white was dry 1st(to prevent bleeding). Make sure the brush is loaded very well with the red paint & if it starts to "pink up" reload it with more red. Try to use only the tip of the brush(if you drag too much of the brush you'll end up picking up some of the white & getting bleed through. The green is DFX metallic green. Hope this helps!
