One stroke rose

Everyone seems to have such an easy time with these, but I have really struggled with them. Which is why I am pleased to share the first one I'm actually excited about.

Great work! Several painters here are masters at the one stroke rose,
but I am still practicing. I do my own version. It's lovely, but takes more time!
So I still continue to practice. I'd love to see a video of it.

You do more of the tattoo style rose. That's something I'm gonna have to master as well. To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of flowers so I haven't done them much, but I trying to broaden my skills.

Very nicely done Whitney, great pic for your first attemp! I am impressed. I learn tole painting when Donna Dewberry first introduced in way back when! I had a woodcraft business in which I did lots of tole painting on it and incorporated the one stroke rose into lots of pieces. So it was really pretty easy for me to do on skin when I started face painting. Just takes practice and you have got it down now  I think.

Thanks Gina. I'm just really trying to master the depth of color that everyone seems to be getting with the one stroke rose. Mine seems to come out so pink and have not much of the red to give it more depth. So after I figure that part out, I think I will be very pleased with it.

maybe this will help you....I make my own split cakes normally, for roses I only use two colors, red and white, 1/3 rd white and 2/3 rd red, and I use DFX paints, I don't spritz the cake at all, I dip my brush, shake off the excess water than load my brush, re dip just a small amount of the brissles back into the water and reload, this seems to push the paint up into the brissles more, to give you the ability to make several strokes, the picture I posted was all done in just two loads. by not spritzing and using a small amount of water, it keeps the colors from blending to to much and turning all your red into pink. I do get just a small amount of pink color during the blending of the white and red but not much. Here is picture of a full rose. hope this helps.

I think I'm just gonna have to invest in TAG, Wolfe or DFX red. The split I've been using is Snazaroo red and white. That's the only difference between what I'm doing and what you said. Thanks for the details though. It makes me feel a little more confident that it really might be just a paint problem.

It may be pink, but it's one of the best one stroke roses I've seen Whitney!  Very realistic.

I do only use DFX RED, I love it because it is so bright,  I had some red snaz, but I used it up! I am really excited to try some tag paints, Sherry could answer this one.....are they the same paints, tag and DFX, I have heard that they are made by the same company.
