Glitter tattoos in odd places
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:25:36 PM »

Anyone try to glitter tattoo a neck?  You know how the first request seems to start a trend?  My first glitter tattoo of the night at a party I did Saturday, she wanted it coming down the side of her neck.  I don't know if after they see that, they think that's where it's supposed to go, but the next girl wanted it in the same spot.  Tricky!  I started purposely asking if they wanted it on their arm or hand after that.  I so didn't want glitter falling in awkward places all night.  It worked... shew!  No more neck tattoos, thank goodness.

yep - they always ask for it, but I always say no.

I tell them that because the neck area moves, it's best that they get it elsewhere.
It effects how the design last and the chance of it messing up is more likely if they get it on their neck.

MOST of the time they pick a different spot.... still get that ONE person who doesn't listen and doesn't get one.

Neck glitter tattoo's and falling glitter every where! One request that stands out so vivid in my mind.
I never do any glitter tattoo's on the face, last summer at Ren faire, I had a lady about in her 30's come into my booth, her left side of her face was all black and blue, her left eye was so bruised. We were all alone just her and I, she sat in my chair and began to cry, I reached over and held her hand, and ask if there was any thing I could do for her? She went on to tell me that two days ago, she was raped and beaten, now funny I am a sexual assult conselor also, so I knew just what to talk to her about. She went on to tell me that she felt dirty and ugly and hated the way people was looking at her. She said please could you cover up my side of my face with some thing glittery that will stay on there for awhile, until the bruising goes away, she had looked at my glitter tattoo pictures before coming into my tent. She wanted a sun shine, to make her day brighter! I looked at her teared up eyes and said "well of course"  I gave her a klenex to wipe her eyes, and we began to make the sunshine! I did it in yellows, oranges, reds and a bit of black on the edges, it was beautiful, and the smile that I saw when she looked into the mirror was amazing. She got my e-mail address and my phone number from me before leaving. She called me four days later to tell me thank you, and the sunshine helped her make it threw those few days!

Gina what a great story...melted my heart.

Cat your work always just makes my mouth drop!

I once had this lady ask me to put a purple unicorn on her son's forehead. I refused and explained that I don't do glitter tattoos on the face and I didn't want to get glitter in the boy's eyes and the mother was super mad at me. She kept resisting and holding up my line so I asked her to step aside while she picked another spot. That poor little boy didn't even want a purple unicorn. Imagine her getting mad at me because I want to keep her son safe.

I always have people ask for them on the face...and I hate doing it. Some insist they are fine with it, even after I explain that it will last for days and be difficult to remove. So I will do them there if I have to. May I ask, why are we worried about glitter in the eyes? everything I use is cosmetic glitter that I would also use while face painting. If anything I have more loose glitter on the face when I paint than with a glitter tattoo. I always have them close their eyes while I apply and I brush away the extra. Is this really a problem?

I do neck tattoos pretty often, no big deal. It is actually one of my favorite places to wear my own. So people see it on me and want the same. You do tend to get glitter down their shirts in the process, but I just laugh that off and tell them they will be decorated down there later. lol.

I do a lot of arms, wrists, tops of feet, ankles. Some on the lower back. (those are hard!) Have done a few of what I would refer to as the "boob tat" for lack of a better term. What I mean is the area right above their shirt line, and some of those shirts go pretty low!

Weirdest one I ever did was on a knee. This older gentleman had an old war injury. He literally had a gaping hole in his knee that you could (and he had) put a ping pong ball inside. It was a miracle he could walk, as Drs said they had no idea how he could. Anyway, he had humor about it and had been contemplating getting a permanent tat of something like hands coming out of the hold, or some such thing. We did a frog beside it so it looked like it was crawling in. I laughed SO HARD!

I guess she didn't want you to take a photo.
I guess that, in this case, it would have been cruel to take one anyway.
But I sure do wish I saw what you did.
I imagine the way the yellows and oranges would have looked on the black and blue.
And I wonder if it hurt her to be touched there on her bruised face.

Ahh, you did well Regina.  I'm also open to real heart when it comes up while working.

I do face glitter tatts but only on adults/ modes/ dancers and only if the adults aren't drunk. I have visions of guys turning up at the office with sparkly hearts on their cheeks if they forget that baby oil will take it off!
